When developer/builder Vincent Kickerillo ventured west of Highway 6, his first project was Nottingham Country which is located off I-10 West, south of the freeway. I-10 is Nottingham’s northern border with Highland Knolls serving as the southern perimeter. Fry Road is the eastern division while Westgreen denotes the western border. This proximity to I-10 gives Nottingham Country residents one of the quickest Katy commutes into the Energy Corridor or Houston.

During the 1970’s and 1980’s, over 2,500 homes were built in Nottingham Country. There are 10 sections; Section One contains the oldest and least expensive homes. The development was done in stages with the sections numbered in chronological order. Prices range from under $200,000 to over $400,000.

Nottingham Country is in unincorporated Harris County; it is not in either the City of Katy or the City of Houston. However, it is in the revered Katy Independent School District. The high school for Nottingham Country is Taylor. Both Memorial Parkway and McMeans educate the Junior High students. Pattison and Nottingham Country elementary schools are within Nottingham Country.

Nottingham Country is unique to Katy housing. There is nothing “cookie cutter” about Nottingham. Having been built by smaller builders, as versus large production builders, many different styles and sizes of homes exist from 1,500 sq-ft to over 5,000 sq-ft. Styles include everything from traditional, Tudor, colonial, Victorian and contemporary. Detailed woodwork and molding are found in most Nottingham Country homes. Due to it’s age, the mature landscaping and large beautiful trees are one of the predominant features of Nottingham.

While there is not a neighborhood community pool, there is an affordable swim club facility and club house. Many residents belong to this “country club”. If you like a backyard pool, Nottingham Country homes have an inordinate number of swimming pools.

You can search all of Houston MLS from this site. I have sold Katy real estate for over 20 years and would be pleased to assist you in any way I can.
